Question: how can we stop racism AND reverse racism, when blacks cant put aside their racist views of whites. whites have for the most part done this for blacks, why is it so hard to do the same for them? if we are really going to have a black president, then doesnt that say something? i am not racist, i just deal with alot of racist blacks, thus this question

THATS THE AGE OLD QUESTION Michelle obamas thesis talks about how the blacks should NOT give up the turmoil their ancestors went through. she also goes on to say that any black person who wants to forget and live in a white world is a traitor to black people. I am 49, I have been through riots and everything else. I still get race issues thrown in my face all the time and I live in a town where everything is black based now. mayor, police, town is now 40% black and they look at me like I was dirt. If I sit in a place to eat, they make snide remarks and everything. All I can say is I live in the present and for the future. I learned from the past, I wont live in it. retribution? well lets say that my parents were also slaves. I dont want retribution, I just want to live for tomorrow.

Reverse racism? Who's the reverse racist? All those blacks you claim are racists towards you, or your apparent racist attitude towards them? There is really no such thing as "reverse racism". There is only racism. The fact that you perceive others as racists, whether correctly or incorrectly, doesn't exempt you from the label "racist" when you react to them as a racist would. Two wrongs don't make a right, as they say. Black people and people of any other race can usually sense when they are dealing with a person who is treating them as human, as opposed to somebody who can't get past their skin color, or the way they talk or whatever. Your body language, facial expressions, what you say or perhaps even more importantly don't say, and other factors can be giveaways that you might not be as racially tolerant as you would like to think. Don't be so concerned about whether others are racist. If you want to be released from your own racism, then you might want to spend more time examining your own assumptions towards them. Take the high road, if you think they are taking the low road. By so doing, you might actually discover that many of your assumptions are incorrect. A lot of racial tension is the result of misunderstanding and the unwillingness to put ourselves in the shoes of another whose circumstances may have created a world view for them that is quite different from ours. Some people become defensive because they have been hurt time and time again and don't want to be hurt anymore. So they become "hostile", towards those they sense may have the capacity to hurt them some more. If you want to change that, show them that you are willing to accept them as they are and if there ever has been a "hatchet", that you are willing to bury it. Eventually they will learn to trust you. Don't forget that very often great anger is the flip side of great sadness. Understanding this is perhaps one of the most important ways to become a human being in the best sense of the word. Your attitude towards others can help heal them and they, in turn, can help heal you. Racism is a downward spiral that can only be reversed through understanding. Being open to the humanity that lies underneath a person's skin pigmentation is the first step towards this understanding.

First of all I would like to say I'm sorry if you have suffered under any racial tension whether it's was caused by a black or any other person. Racism is wrong. Blacks and the Media. In order to understand it you have to get your facts straight. When it comes to black television and how certain characters are played most of the time it is based on a black stereotype perpetrated by money hunger business executives (being black or white) who feel that an accurate depiction of blacks is not that profitable. Today the images of 'blacks in the hood' is just another stereotype, same as Jim Crow and Sambo. You know that not all black men run around selling drugs and cheating on their wives and girlfriends. Nor do all black girls get pregnant at 16. These are stereotypes Hollywood use of us to make money. They think blacks often being portrayed this way is more profitable than presenting him as the all American black boy next door. And the reason Tyler Perry use lines like "We as African Americans" or" Too many black youths" in his show to stress specifically to blacks certain issues that are crucial to our community. Black Role Models. The reason we say we need black role models is because most of the time when we look in places of authority and prosperity we don't normally see a colored face. It's a white one. We need someone who looks like us to reflect achievement and possibilities the same as you do. The Race Card. The reason the race card is thrown out there is because people are still racist and discriminatory against people of color. Some of us might still feel you owe us because of this reason. We feel cheated and every time we see a rise in hate crimes (and it has risen) we feel threatened and old wounds are opened up again. Racism hasn't died and it's not old news. Slavery is dead, but don't you fool yourself into thinking racism is. Frankly Jarius, I think you were a brave person to ask these questions and I applaud you for your openness and honesty and trying understand why we feel the way we do. I think one way of ridding ourselves of the curse of racism is to open up a sincere dialogue about it and then try to find a way to heal.

Do you think for a millisecond that if a Black Man IS elected President of the United States that racism will just evaporate? Black people didn't invent racism. We have just been recipients of it. It has become a learned behavior in our children, both black and white. There is no such thing as reverse racism. Racism encompasses ALL fools!

I think racism goes both ways. The exit polls show that race played a big part in some people's votes. I think the only way we will get past racism is for this racist generation to die off and not have taught it to their children.

We need to approach this the same way Archie Bunker in the series "All in the Family" did. He ranted based on his viewpoints and then treated people like people. And, we need to unite to slap down anyone who tries to censor Free Speech as "Racist." A surprising number of African Americans get it and are forcing themselves to push their bigotry down enough to see the person in front of them. And they deserve a lot of credit, because it has to be as hard for them as it has been for my generation of Non-African-Americans. They deserve to be recognized over the bigots and haters. The reason that it seems like all African Americans are racist is because those are the ones whom the Corporate Media allows a voice, not because they are a majority. In fact, they may not even be all that common.
