Question: My Ex-Husband has taken a job in his home country (Japan) and now refuses to pay child support. He doe not work at a U.S company or have any association with the U.S any longer. We have been divorced 1 year (I'm 4 months pregnant, and yeah it I got pregnant out of being desperate as I didn't want to divorce, he did. and i was trying to get him back obviously i was used, but i dont believe in abortion so here it stands.) and I didn't even know he was moving back to his country, but last week I tried calling his home but his phone was dissconnected. I called his friend and he told me that he moved abroad and wanted no association with me or our daughter and soon to come baby any more. His friend refued to give me his number abroad. I had called since his last child supprt check didnt come in. -- I have a low paying job and will struggle greatly without this payment. What can I do??

1) why do people think that babies will magically fix people/relationships? (That's ignorant!) 2) abortions are legal until 24 weeks in the USA 3) I don't blame him 4) don't have a kid YOU can't afford! (That's ignorant!) Adoption is a temporary solution to a permanent problem. Abortion is a permanent solution to a temporary problem. Keeping a baby you can’t afford and/or aren’t ready for is a formula for disaster Any idiot can have sex, but it takes much more to be a responsible, mature and financially stable parent. Age DOES matter! Maturity is gained through life experiences and life experiences are obtained over time. Getting knocked up doesn't magically make you mature or a responsible adult! Girls 5yrs old and up can give birth, but that doesn‘t mean they SHOULD! So don’t even think for a second that “age doesn’t matter” I would LOVE to know what 5yr old is a fit mother? (honestly, just google "youngest mother" and you'll find it!) abortion is simply a medical procedure to remove a parasitic organism $200-$1,000 (abortion) will save your life/future, the father’s life/future, and keep your parents from humiliation. Keeping a baby YOU can't afford or take care of is NOT "brave", "mature" or "responsible" but it is in fact irresponsible, selfish, and just plain dumb! If you can't care for a baby independently then you have NO business having one! Sometimes the “responsible” thing to do IS to have an abortion. Studies have shown that the MAJORITY of women/girls feel relief after abortions (I know I did!) and that guilt, complications, and regret are NOT common. ****************** Fun and TRUE pregnancy FACTS about most females: You will poop and pee on the delivery table (in front of everyone) during birth. The area of skin between your vagina and anus will tear open to allow the 8lbs of baby to be pushed out. You will lose 85% of your current friends. You will gain at least 45lbs and only lose about 5lbs after birth. You will have stretch marks. For the next 2 years you will average about 3 hours of sleep a night. ---------------- Basics for being a successful parent (the ideal situation) be at least 21 (25+ is best) be married (or have life partner) have at least $5,000 just for the baby both own cars both have careers (not just jobs) both have degrees both want kids I’m adopted, and the system is flawed! (I was lucky and got adopted into a wealthy and loving family, but that’s rare. Adoption is like dropping a pet off at the shelter, getting a family is NOT guaranteed) The world already has TOO many unwanted kids, so don’t choose adoption either. Chances are you’re kid will end up abused or on the streets anyways. I had an abortion when I was 18 and it was the best decision I ever made for myself! (I had plans and a future ahead of me) I challenge anyone to make me regret it too. (Remember- abortions are legal in the USA until 24 weeks in all 50 states, because the fetus is not viable) ABORTIONS ARE SAFE, SIMPLE, EASY, AND NECESSARY!

First he needs to figure out if he was the one named on the birth certificate. If he is not, they cannot sue him for child support until she can prove he is through a paternity test. If he is the one named on the birth certificate, he will have to file a motion through social services to have a paternity test. He can try to get a public defender or will have to hire a lawyer himself. He will have to pay for the paternity test and legal fees. If he is not the father, the matter will be dropped. However, if he is the father, he will be obligated to pay child support based on the income that he earned at the time the child was born until present. If he has been in prison the whole time, he shouldn't be responsible for 10,000. However, depending on the age of the child, he could be based on income. If the suit is passed by the state, they will either liquidate all assets under his name until the mother has received 10,000 or they will deduct the money from all of his paychecks in the future until the debt is paid.

You cannot MAKE your boyfriend 'be there' for you during your pregnancy any more than he can make you have an abortion. If you harass him by calling him repeatedly, show up at his house/work, etc, he may have grounds to file a restraining order against you - but he can't file a restraining order simply because you are choosing to have a baby he helped create rather than having an abortion. In the end, he does not have to take any responsibility for seeing his child or take any part in the child's life - EXCEPT he is responsible for providing financial support for the child, if you choose to seek child support through the courts. This means that, while no court would force him to have any contact with his child, a court can force him to pay child support to help to financially support his child. Fortunately, most men melt when they see their child for the first time. If this is the case, he may wind up coming around and developing a relationship with the child. He may also not. He may also deny paternity, meaning you would have to have court-ordered paternity testing in order to seek child support. In the end, if he is the father and you do seek child support, he could seek custody rights. You can not make your ex-boyfriend be a father -- you can make him pay for his choices and take a certain amount of responsibility, but in the end, you can never force a guy to be a parent to his offspring unless he chooses to do so on his own.

he can probably get a public defender... he can find a way to get some legal help even though he is in jail. If he hasn't signed the birth certificate and paternity hasn't been established through the court they shouldn't even be able to order support from him. I would file the paperwork and find out for sure. Even though he's in prison he is still obligated to pay child support if he is the father.
