Keeping my pony? (20 Characters)? Topic: Summer homework for kids

Question: OK. I have half leased an amazing POA pony. He's perfect! Ok, he's not perfect. lol. When we got him, he bit, had basically no ground manners, hadn't been ridden, other than once from my trainer in two year. It turns out he was a total diamond in the dust. He was well trained at one point and after a lot of hours of work, we w/t/c, ride him with a contact, extend and collect, bend, and we've jumped 2'6 jumps and 2' courses. He's special. He has the extra go that a non- horse person can't understand. I guess you'd just call it heart? He has to potential, and tons of it, and by the end of next summer, I'll bet we could enter a 3- Phase and place! (Eventing is what I really want to pursue.) Anyway, with anything good there's always an issue. His owner has had some issues, but anyway, he is the only horse she has left, and she doesn't have any real use for him other than for me. I was originally only supposed to be leasing him for the summer, but I have gotten a lot closer to him than I expected to and I didn't think he would be so naturally athletic and such a fun pony in general. There is a strong possibility that if I don't full-lease him at least through October or November, he will be full leased by someone out of the barn or sold. The issues with that is that: My mom is worried about: a) My grades going down (I get straight A's now) b) Not having time for friends and family c) Money. Anything you have to help would be appreciated. Any similar stories, ways to convince my mom about a and b, and ways earn money. Btw, I am not old enough drive, which means I am not old enough to have a "real" job. I am looking into working some off at the barn. Thank you!

I don't know about you,, but,,,, having my horse actually improved my grades i was very impressed as well my parents,,, tell your mom homework and what not comes first, after your finished with homework you can go and see your pony,, i do have to admit however,,, i don't have much time this summer for stuff with friends, but my farm friends (boys and girls) are like a second family to me. and i would rather have it that way, i actually enjoy being with my horses and second family more than i do friends from school, and as for the money thing,,, babysitting works for me and pet watching and what not, and say hey mom, (this is after maybe you get to babysit for kids for a while) what if i could come up with 1/2 or the board/ lease every month. ( first find out how much you will be getting paid and what you get weekly) and see where that gets you, good luck!

Your grades should be fine if you stick to it. You will always have time for family and friends and the good thing about horses you always meet new friends. Money now I understand were you come from except I got 6 horses and will be able to drive next month lol. Just try to get donations, or help people out, working in the barn your horse is that's a good idea. I hope you are able to keep him! Good Luck

promise your mom that your grades will stay up. i own three horses, ride every day, im out with my horses from the minnute i get home from school until it's to dark to see. i also play volleyball (yuck lol i kinda got roped into trying out and then of course made the team....didn't want to though) i show a lot (pretty much every weekend, i take lessons twice a week, i work VERY hard with my horses, And i get straight a's....and i have to work to get sraight a's...it doesn't all just come to me. I put in lots of late nights (up doing homework till 1:00) (im sooooo not playing volley ball next year lol) it takes a lot of work and time manegment to get all of my stuff in.....but just explain to your mom that you will keep your grades up (keeping the grades up is really important). You will have time for your family......but as for your freinds......i hardly ever hang out with friends during the school year. Me and my best friend have sleepovers....but usually at my house so i can get up and feed.....and ride early in the morning. You just have to chose what is more important. Hanging out with your friends or with your horse. If your friends are all going shoping and you can't because you have to go and ride....you have to be ok with that. For the money making.....look for things around the barn or around another barn close to you. I babysit during the summer. Thats how i make a lot of my money. I also work with other peoples horses. just look around for odd jobs. hang up a poster somewhere that says you are looking for work for payment. Good luck!!!

my mom waz worried about the same thing. i waz ten when we got Comet. i still am a straight A student (now 13) and in fact, a horse haz helped me. i am more active, and i have broken the school record for Flex Arm hang! i worked off half hiz bored by volunteering at the ranch i boarded him at too. my mind iz healthy, and i am the most active person in my family. i highly recremend a horse!! they are life changing!!
