Question: Specs: CPU: AMD FX-8150 3.6GHz 8-Core Motherboard: Asus SABERTOOTH 990FX R2.0 RAM: Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM HDD GPU: Sapphire Radeon HD 7870 GHz Edition 2GB (Possible 2 Way SLI in the future). Case: NZXT Source 210 PSU: Corsair CX 750W 80 PLUS Bronze Certified ATX12V Optical Drive: Asus DRW-24B1ST OS: Windows 7 Home Premium (x64) Cost: about $1000 dollars AU, $877 US. plan on using for general internet, gaming (new and old), 3D modelling and video editing/after effects (generally using a fair amount of particles.) Can anyone give some tips on lowering the price? will SLI'ing bottleneck my CPU? etc.

The eight core will eventually bottleneck the gpu, but as long as you don't go too big of a graphics card, that thing should run fine! BTW, all the fx series cpus are hyper-threaded cpus, 4 cores, 2 threads each, don't believe the hype. Companies are aloud to advertise the number of threads the cpu can handle at one time, if there four physical cores, but they can each run two threads, technically the company can say the cpu is 8 core, being that, "theoretically," there are 8 logical threads being processed. The reason you will want a better cpu in the future, is if you do go crossfire with another 7870. also, If you experience micro stuttering with the 2gb card, its from the amount of cache the cpu has. And, for the love of god, do yourself a favor and add an ssd, the samsung 840 pro is 150 bucks, and the ocz vertex 3 is cheaper yet, spending all that money and not even giving yourself the speed. There's my two cents. Overall though not bad for the price at all.

I think that these are great specs for the PC! I don't think and SLI would bottleneck the CPU but just one suggestion I would suggest to anyone with any computer. GET AN SSD. Trust me, they are a bit on the pricey side but they're the best investment for any computer. Everything is so much faster in loading. Thanks!

again, these are excellent specs. i see that you upped the ante with the cpu, which is a great idea for what you do. i still don't think you need a 750w psu, but if you must. to get the same performance, with less money, the only think i can think of is to get a smaller hard drive, or lower the psu wattage.everything else looks great.

sounds like a really good builld!! haha I reckon you should get SSD, yea its expensive, but the speed is inssannneee if you still have money left, SSD the crap out of it ;) oh and also, make sure your case has good cooling and dust filtering, it messes up some PCs :) TRY looking up benchmarks for GPUs, and if you can find a different card with like identical graphics performance, you could save there :)

I like it the only thing i could suggest is would you consider an i5 build which is cheaper but will do the same things .
