Question: Is there anything specifically I need to know before I actually start majoring in computer science or will I learn everything in college? Any advice from any experience you've had in the computer science field or something that wasn't mentioned in college about computer science that you think is important?

Well, you need to know algebra and geometry. You need to know calculus and (very likely) physics, but you can take those subjects in college. You should read the curricula for computer-related degrees to be sure that you are in the right major (computer science, software engineering, applied computer science, computer engineering, informatics, information technology, information systems, cognitive science, etc.) You should ask yourself some questions such as "Do I want to use computers in my work or write programs or design machines for others to use?" "Do I want to specialize in some particular aspect of computers such as security, networking, databases, artificial intelligence, computer graphics, operating systems, theoretical aspects of computer science, programming, robotics, business applications, mathematical modeling, hardware, web page design, ..." If you have not selected a college yet, I'd suggest visiting some colleges of interest to you. See if you can make an appointment with an advisor in the computer science department. Find out what types of programs are available to you. Ask about job prospects for the specialties they offer. Find out what recent graduates are doing now. Read the list of course offerings. Find out about internships, clubs, study abroad opportunities, themed housing, honors programs, etc.

Not sure but I started learning a bit of the basics before I went off to college. There are a good sum of intro classes when you start so it should prepare you. Just make sure this is what you want to do but college students change there major a few times before they settle.

Things to know? Many CS students shoudn't be in that program. They would be better off studying Computer Engineering or Software Engineering Technology.

You don't need to know anything, but I wouldn't major in something without knowing anything about it - so some computer programming experience would be good.

if you have backed up your files (or even if you havent) try a system restore first. If that dosent solve the problem(s) wipe the drive and re-install your OS. gl
