Question: My supervisor has been hitting on me from day one. He asked me to go to the movies with him several times, which I politely declined. He has sent me sexually rude text messages as well as attempted to send me sexually rude pictures. (Luckily my phone cant receive pictures. After what he describe what he sent me Im glad I didn’t see it) He has also called me late at night and sends me random texts while I’m at home, which make no sense. Just recently he is threatening to fire me because I told him I wanted to stay out of his personal life and I wanted him to stay out of mine. He’s also upset that I deleted him from my face book and myspace as well. Everyday that I have worked under this man’s supervision, I have felt trapped and scared. At one point I honestly feared for my safety. Is this sexual harassment? And if it is, can someone please tell me how to file it. If I get fired, I want to prevent other girls from having to go through this as well. Oh, I almost forgot to mention. He has asked me questions like if Im still a virgin and If I enjoy taking part in illegal substance use. I don't believe he was asking the last one as a boss, but rather to find out if I 'like to party.' He has also asked my personal questions about my past, which I am very uncomfortable about talking about...but felt pressured and threatened to answer fearing that I would be fired. I still have all the messages from him on facebook. He never contacted me through myspace. And I am not sure if there are any organizations. I live in Riverside, Ca but I will be sure to look. When I call the cell phone company, I just explain the situation and they'll help me out? Thank you Carl E. For all the information. I live in California and the business I work for is not very big. Its a little home store that sells patio furniture and such. I am a sign waver for the company and so is he. However, He is my superior. Unfortunately, I don't recall the dates in which he has said or done rude things. But I only work Saturdays and Sundays, so thats a good start. I do have another job, but without this one, my paycheck would barely allow me to make rent...Which is why I have stuck around. I know it is a horrible reason to. To Bouncing, that would work If I worked within the company walls. I plan to go in early saturday and talk with the owner of the company, even if I'm fired before saturday. I want to thank you all for your help. I plan to call my phone company as soon as I get home from my other job.

Yes it is. Assuming your company is big enough to have such a function, talk to the HR department. If it isn't, talk to your bosses' boss. In some states (like Texas where I am) some companies, I think those with less than ten or 25 employees are not subject to those laws. But regardless of legalities, I would report this. Any stand-up HR person would not participate in your being fired because then you have even more grounds for a lawsuit. I would also quietly begin looking for another job just to hedge your bets, particularly if you happen to be living paycheck to paycheck. But as to your fears of being fired, do you really want to continue to work at a place like this, especially if management ignores the issues?

Absolutely, this is is harassment. Your employer needs to know what is happening. You should also report this to the police. Make sure that you save all of the txt messages and FB messages. The police can use them as evidence.

You shouldnt have deleted him from your fb. you shouldve printed out everything you couldve. You also can contact your cell phone company and explain the situation ,and ask for a printout of all texts with available incoming numbers. Then, you need to go above his head with all the information.

You are being harassed, sexually and otherwise. In brief, he is breaking the law. Try to keep a record of all dates and what he did on them. Go above him to your head. Even tell the police. People need to know he is doing this. You have no need to bottle it up all to yourself. Tell someone. If he says these things quietly, round on him and say loudly `Please keep away from me and keep your suggestions to yourself!" so that other people can hear you.

contact a lawyer, it doesn't cost anything to have your case reviewed and if they feel you have a case they won't charge you until and if you get paid
