Harvard? Topic: Yale essays that were accepted

Question: why doesnt anyone ever go to harvard university? is it for only very smart people or is it too much money or what? because no one evr goes there evryone goes to yale and yer why yale aswell?

some 23000 people apply, only ~2050 applicants are accepted. Money is not a big issue since Harvard is almost lavish w/ fin. aid. - families making under $60,000 pay nothing. Very smart people do get accepted but they are by no means the only ones there. Harvard looks for kids that have attained a high level of achievement in any activity of theirs. It looks for passion. Generally, students must possess a high level of academic attainment as well. But basically, you have to have a great transcript, great activities, and a great essay and that will get you strong consideration. With thousands of applicants having similar profiles, luck and randomness also play a chance.

um, I guess if no one went to Harvard then Harvard would kind of disappear, wouldnt it? The last I checked, Harvard was still there and all the dorms were full of students. Yale's dorms are full, too. So I guess both Yale and Harvard are doing OK. I kind of wonder about how you are doing, though. Do you feel OK?

I'm not being rude but this question is a bit silly, as the answer is very obvious why parents want their children to go to prestigious universities. First off all Harvard and other universities Harvard are the best universities in the world and in people want the best. If you are ambitious and you think big then you will want to go to an amazing university and you will want to have the best in your life. I study at a top university (Cambridge) and when I was given an offer to study medicine there I cried and I was so over the moon as studying at such a a high-status and celebrated university is so wonderful and it really boosts your confidence and self-esteem knowing you beat many people to have the place - a lot of courses have 50 people trying to get the 1 place. I disagree with the person who wrote that people are foolish into thinking that studying at a top university will give their children the best job. Sorry but that's bullshit - If I needed a lawyer in the future I would hire the one who comes from a well-known university due to the fact that they are more academic than someone from a lower ranked university. When you are studying at a top university you are being taught by the experts and you have the best academic experts in the country. Most people graduated with 1st class honours, the universities maintain their golden reputation and job offers role in even before you graduate. Whether you want to admit it or not people from top universities will always get the best jobs and they are more employable as they are highly academic and they have achieved the grades, and just getting into a top university looks mind-blowing your application form. Studying at a top university opens many doors for you as you meet the right people and you form connections. Also you are more challenged and pushed to achieve the best grades, and the standard of teaching is a lot higher and advanced. Also if somebody is an expectional student then they deserve to go to the best universities. If I have children in the future then I will expect my children to study at highly respectable and influcencial universities.

They just want the best for their kids and if going to a top notch college means that they will be getting the best education than so be it. Its just tons of more money but hey if you got the money and the brains go ahead and do it! :)
