Question: I've recently started participating in air-soft skirmish, and I have to say that it's quite fun. The only problem is, my current weapons don't seem to get the "job" done. You see, I really like sniping in air-soft, it's very fun and relaxing, concentration is key while sniping, which is why I like it so much. I was thinking about buying an air-soft sniper rifle, with these specifications: - FPS: I want to have the advantage of long range while taking out my opponents - Decent mechanism: I don't want the rifle jamming on me a lot - Durability: I don't want the rifle to break or scratch easily - Weight: I'd most likely be changing positions after each hit, so weight matters. I'd like enough weight for the rifle to be durable though. - Price, I'd definitely be looking for a rifle with a price under 100 US Dollars Now, I don't think that I'd be able to make it with just a sniper rifle, so I'd also be willing to buy a regular, fully automatic, durable rifle. I'd be willing to buy a rifle with these specifications: - FPS: I'd like to be able to take out targets from medium to close range with this weapon - Good mechanism: I don't want this weapon jamming on me a lot, as I will be in battle most of the time while using this weapon - Durability: I don't want this weapon to break or scratch easily - Weight: Light weight, as I will be carrying this weapon around a lot while in battle - Cartridge: Speed loader cartridge with high capacity - Price: I'd like this weapon to around 80 US dollars or less I'm not a hardcore skirmisher, it's just a hobby of mine. I hate to be blunt when you took so much time in formatting your question, but the answer is quite simple. You cannot buy an effective sniper rifle for under 150 dollars (when you include your optics) and for it to perform anything like a sniper rifle should, be prepared to invest at least twice that into internal upgrades, and hours on the range into training. AEGs are a similar problem- a decent AEG costs about 100 minimum, and your full kit for your weapon will probably cost far more. For an example, I have a G&G Gr16 that costs 260 new. But when you include the magazines, internal work, ammunition, new battery, and smart charger, I've spent about 500 dollars on the gun. Of course, my case is something of an extreme (or at least here it is, I know people who have put 2.5k into their guns) but you can still expect to double the cost of the AEG itself if it is to be an effective weapon. If nothing else, you need a smart charger, ammunition, and at least 2 mags. In short, raise your budget. I would say lower your expectations, but the fact is that most of the guns below 100 simply break. Sad but true.
