Question: My boyfriend and I have been friends for 5 years. We been dating for 4 months, but it has been long distance. The plan is to visit each other once a month. I asked him if he wanted me to move to Georgia and he said that he wanted us to start our life together in a new state and that he wanted to move away from his immediate family because they were negatively affecting him. So I told him then we can move to North Carolina because I have family there too ( I live in Virginia now) and there are many opportunities there. He agreed and I said I will move this year being that my graduate classes are online and I own my own business so I can move where I please and he can join me next year. So I found a place and plan on moving in May but it's not written in stone and yesterday he told me now he wants to stay in Georgia. I got upset and told him that he is indecisiveness. The sudden change alarmed me. We made plans now out of nowhere he wants me to move to Georgia. Deal breaker or no? Over Reacting?

You are definitely not overreacting as this is something you have both planned together and you are taking your future with him seriously, as he should be. Moving is a big deal and shows your commitment, however sometimes you have to make sacrifices in a relationship. The main thing to consider is the reason why he doesnt want to move to North Carolina? what suddenly happened that made him change his mind? You need to sit down with him and talk about why he feels this way and express that you had planned everything and his sudden change of decision has caught you off guard. If you really love each other than you can make it work, regardless of where you live. Goodluck!

Dating FOUR months long distance and you plan on moving in together because of the 5 year friendship. Brilliant or foolish? Long distance means you are just chat buddies. How many actual DATES have you been on together during the four months? You thought since you had known him for several years, you could simply skip all the proper steps of dating. And look how it is working for you.

If your job/school allows you to move anywhere and you want to see if this can work then f*cking move to GA so you don't wake up 30 years from now filled with regret.

I know somebody who was JUST like this when they first met their girlfriend! I have to say that over time that definitely does change, you will become more able to do other things without thinking of her all the time, and your interest in other things should come back. You need to think to yourself though - is what I'm doing right? Is my life really balanced? You don't want her to overtake your life and prohibit you from finding a job or doing things you enjoy - that would be changing you for the worst - so you have to try your best to slowly get back in to things you used to like doing, and find time for that besides seeing your girlfriend. Gradually over time that should happen naturally, though, but for now try to make the effort! Why not say to yourself that weekends are for her, and during the week is for you to catch up on things you need to do? Still talk to her of course, but don't let her take over your mind! This is normal though for young people in love. Good luck! :)
